White Pine Center Love Your Tree Contest & Erie Gives 2024
Erie Gives, The Erie Community Foundation's (ECF) annual fundraising event for nonprofits, is on August 13, 2024! This year they revealed a new logo for the event, shown above.
Additionally, they announced that Erie Gives is no longer from set times during the day, you can now give for the full 24 hours!
Erie Gives is a perfect opportunity to give to White Pine Center for Healing because The Erie Community Foundation and their partners provide a prorated match for each donation! That means your donation makes an even BIGGER impact when you give on August 13th. Learn how to give on Erie Gives.
Love Your Tree Poster Contest
Right before Erie Gives this year White Pine Center hosted a Love Your Tree Poster Contest! Any Erie youth that participated in our Love Your Tree program had the opportunity to submit their artwork for a chance to win prizes and have their artwork featured in a 2025 community calendar!
The proceeds from the community calendar sales benefit both White Pine Center for Healing and the United Way of Erie County.
Love Your Tree is an arts-based body appreciation program that celebrates body diversity by utilizing creativity. Youth engage in group discussions about body acceptance and appreciation that includes talking about the diversity seen in nature, considering why that is so positive, and translating that message into a physical representation through art.
An award reception for all the talented participants was held on July 25, 2024. Guests celebrated the young artists who creatively expressed body appreciation and diversity through their art, and brought awareness to how Erie’s youth is influenced by media and affected by body dissatisfaction.
Thank you to the Erie Reader for posting an article written by Ashley Gryncewicz, our Development Coordinator, to help us raise awareness!
Also thank you to Erie News Now for covering the award reception!
Why You Should Participate in Erie Gives
White Pine Center for Healing depends solely on grants and donations to be able to present prevention programs like Love Your Tree at no cost to schools, businesses, and families. Prevention programs are the most effective way to fight back against eating disorders!
The donations raised on Erie Gives, that the ECF and their partners are matching, will be used to present even more programs in local schools and begin working with Erie-area businesses to bring these discussions to the Erie workforce.
White Pine Center will also begin developing an online resource featuring self-paced prevention and education programming, lived experience stories, advocacy and support services to extend our reach to those who cannot interact with us in person.
YOU can help White Pine Center for Healing achieve these goals!
