What Does White Pine Center for Healing Do?
Updated: November 17, 2024
What do we do here at White Pine Center for Healing?
White Pine Center for Healing is dedicated to supporting individuals and families in preventing, understanding, and overcoming challenges related to eating disorders, body image issues, weight stigma, and trauma. We provide compassionate support and practical resources available to anyone, no matter where they are on their journey.
We are passionate about our educational outreach programs that we present to families, schools, and businesses to prevent body image issues and eating disorders before they have devastating impacts.
Online Resources
We are in the process of developing a comprehensive online resource that is dedicated to body image, weight stigma, and related issues to provide information and support services to anyone who needs them no matter where they are to make these crucial resources more accessible.
Prevention Programs
We offer evidence-based prevention programs tailored for schools, families, and workplaces. We offer programs such as:
The Body Project
Confident Body Confident Child
Love Your Tree
Intuitive Eating
HeartMath and Biofeedback
These programs are designed to prevent body image issues and eating disorders before they start by providing the tools needed to cultivate a healthy relationship with ones body and to challenge media and messages that tell us we must fit the “ideal” body appearance to be valued and accepted. They also raise awareness about these issues to help people recognize signs and symptoms to encourage early intervention, making recovery more attainable.
Support Groups & Referrals
We facilitate support groups to give the individuals who need it a safe space to build resilience and share their journey. We also offer referrals to mental health clinicians who are known to us for those who need guidance on where to go for additional treatment.
Advocacy for Change
At White Pine Center, we know that advocacy is crucial for effective change and improving lives. We advocate for policies in Pennsylvania that promote positive body image and mental health, striving for a more supportive, stigma-free future for all.
